This Aricha, from the region of Yirgacheffe, is located on the eastern slope of the lush green mountains of the Rift Valley at an altitude of 1,880 meters above sea level.
Yirgacheffe is famous for a very good reason, producing consistently clean stone fruit coffees as seen here. Farmers deliver their ripe cherries to the Kebel Aricha mill. Once sorted the beans are put on the drying beds and turned for four to six weeks in an effort to minimise ferment. The dried cherry is then taken to their mill 5 hours away in Addis Ababa where they are hulled and bagged.
Elephant beans refer to the beans screen size which is above 19.
